Nobufil PLAx LW Classic Grey

PLAx LW (Light Weight) is an innovative, expanding PLA based on the tried-and-tested formula of our impact-modified PLAx. The filament is manufactured from recycled industrial waste sourced from Europe. We have taken great care to develop a consistently high-quality material for you. Through the addition of a special blowing agent, the material foams up during printing at elevated temperatures, drastically reducing its weight. This allows you to print extremely lightweight parts whilst retaining the ease of printing for which PLA is renowned.

Nobufil’s PLAx LW (Light Weight) filament is manufactured from recycled industrial production waste, making a valuable contribution to the circular economy. As an alternative to virgin raw materials, these products help conserve resources, shrink the ecological footprint, and reduce CO2 emissions. Through the addition of specialized foaming agents, the material expands during the printing process, significantly reducing the weight of the printed components.

PLAx LW utilizes active foaming technology: at standard PLA temperatures (approx. 200 °C), it behaves just like regular PLA. When the print temperature is raised to approx. 230–250 °C, the foaming agent activates inside the hotend, expanding the filament to double its volume. Thanks to this volumetric expansion, the flow rate in the slicer can be reduced down to 50%. The result is ultra-lightweight parts that still deliver exceptional structural stability.

Nobufil PLAx LW (Light Weight) filament is ideal for applications where every gram counts. It is the perfect material for RC aircraft, drones, scale modeling, and large-scale cosplay armor and props. Beyond its low weight, the material delivers an attractive matte finish that conceals layer lines almost completely. Parts made from PLAx LW are also very easy to post-process and paint.
